Course Description:
This course introduces students to the contexts, content, and literary structure of the New Testament, tracing its canonical organization while emphasizing the centrality of Jesus Christ as the fulfillment of God’s promises and the foundation of the Church’s mission to proclaim His Kingdom to the world. It is a core course in the CTS program, especially for students engaged in church ministry and theological education.
Responsibilities
The course designer will be responsible for the complete development and setup of CTB112 of the Brightspace platform, ensuring it is ready for instructional delivery by the start of the semester. Key tasks including but not limited to:

Course Content Development
-
Design a full 12-week course with clearly structured weekly modules.

Create and upload a detailed course syllabus and a week-by-week academic calendar.
-
List at least 3 learning outcomes for the course and 3 for each one of the lectures/weeks
-
Prepare and upload 12 PowerPoint lectures (in both .pptx and .pdf formats).
-
Record and upload 12 video lectures that complement the PowerPoint presentations.
-
Prepare 12 weekly assignments, including:
-
At least 4 critical literature or chapters review abstracts (written skills)
-
1 integrative written or oral presentation assignment.

Create a comprehensive quiz library of at least 120 multiple-choice questions (10 per lecture
-
topic), with:
-
Correct answers
-
Immediate feedback for both correct and incorrect responses.

Develop a graded exams library with another set of 120 questions (10 per topic), structure for midterm and final assessments, with answers and feedback.

Create rubrics for all evaluation activities.

Build and organize the Brightspace gradebook, ensuring alignment with assessments and course evaluation criteria.

Support a culturally and linguistically diverse student population.

Resource and Reading Material: Compile a list of references and required readings, including at least:

The main course textbook

1-2 recommended supplementary textbooks

3 research articles per lecture topic (36 total)

Upload all assigned PDF readings (as permitted) or provide external links in Brightspace Platform Integration and Instructional Design

Upload and organize all content on Brightspace, ensuring:

Ensure weekly modules are clearly labeled, complete, and accessible

Link all content (lecture slides, videos, readings, and assignments) within the platform and ensure they are fully functional

All evaluation tools (assignments, quizzes, exams are integrated into Brightspace and linke to the Gradebook.

Design course activities to support student engagement and learning outcomes

Participate in 6-8 hours of Brightspace training in August 2025

Qualifications
-
Unless otherwise noted, a Master’s Degree in Biblical Studies, Theology, or a related field is required; a Ph.D. is preferred.

Demonstrated experience in course development and/or delivery at the college or university level.

Familiarity with Brightspace (D2L) or comparable LMS platforms is an asset.

Proven ability to develop instructional material for online theological education.
