BIBLICAL ESL
CURRRICULUM DESIGNER

Term: Fall 2025
Courses Format: Online/ Synchronous (Live Interactive Classes and Brightspace-based Components)
Projected Class Enrolment: 15–30 students

Appointment Status: Temporary / Part-time
Remote / Hybrid work schedule
Contract Duration: 12 weeks
Part-time, ~8 hours per week, 96h total.
Compensation: $30 CAD/hour (Total: 2,880 CAD for the full contract term)

Description

We are seeking a creative and mission-driven Curriculum Designer to develop a 12-week Biblical ESL/EFL (English as a Second Language/English as a Foreign Language) program. This role involves designing engaging, culturally sensitive, and spiritually enriching curriculum materials that integrate English language instruction with Biblical themes and values. The program should prepare students for academic theological studies in English and for standardized English proficiency exams such as the Cambridge English Exam or TOEFL.

Responsibilities

  • Design a comprehensive ESL curriculum with a clear course grid and progression.

  • Develop detailed lesson plans that serve as adaptable templates for individual courses.

  • Create all the course syllabus and weekly calendars.

  • Participate in ERC’s strategic academic planning.

  • Integrate Biblical texts and Christian principles into language instruction.

  • Ensure the curriculum prepares students for:

  • Studying theology in English-speaking academic settings.

  • Taking standardized English exams such as the Cambridge English Exam or TOEFL.

  • Collaborate with our faculty, educators and ministry leaders to ensure curriculum relevance

    and effectiveness.

  • Adapt materials for diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

  • Provide training and support for instructors implementing the Biblical ESL/EFL curriculum

 

Qualifications

  • A master’s degree in theology with a combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in ESL teaching and curriculum development.

  • Strong knowledge of Biblical content and Christian teaching.

  • Familiarity with academic English requirements and standardized English exams.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Passion for cross-cultural ministry and education.

  • Ability to think strategically and contributes new solutions that support emerging needs.

Additional Information

  • Positions are subject to enrolment and budgetary approval.

  • Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada and reside in Ontario during the

    contract period.

  • In-person meetings may be required.
